Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

I have been working with individuals and groups for the last twenty years and started in private practice as a psychotherapist in 2007.

I would describe my orientation as psychoanalytic from within a contemplative perspective.  By this I mean that I subscribe to the idea of an unconscious and believe that events and attitudes from early life can impact on our lives today.  I understand that an awareness of these currents helps to increase the choices available to us. Yet I also know, as a long-time meditator, that paying attention in a non-judgemental fashion enables previously unbearable experiences to be borne and new possibilities discovered.  I provide a safe space in which these experiences can be explored.

I have also worked for many years within the NHS so have an understanding of the challenges of working in large organisations.

I have worked with many issues including:

  • abuse
  • ADHD
  • addiction
  • autistic spectrum
  • anxiety
  • bereavement
  • bipolar disorders
  • confusion
  • depression
  • emptiness
  • isolation
  • obsession and obsessive compulsive disorder
  • personality disorder
  • psychosis and psychotic episodes
  • relationship issues
  • searching for a sense of meaning
  • spiritual crises
  • struggling with conflict and indecision
  • trauma
